Arpitha GI Plaster Mesh

Arpitha GI Plaster Mesh is a product specifically designed to reinforce plaster on walls and other surfaces. Here’s a breakdown of its key features:

Material
  • Made from Galvanized Iron (GI) with a nominal thickness of around 0.35mm.
  • The GI undergoes a hot-dip zinc coating process, providing protection against rust and corrosion.
Purpose
  • Used to strengthen plaster, preventing cracks and improving its overall stability.
  • Commonly applied at critical points like:
    • Wall beam joints
    • Wall column joints
    • Door and window openings
    • Electrical chases (grooves cut into walls for electrical wiring)
    • Sump tank plastering (underground water tank)
  • Can also be used for lath plastering, a traditional technique involving a wooden or metal frame supporting the plaster.

Benefits

  • Reduced Cracking: By providing a strong base for the plaster, Arpitha GI Plaster Mesh helps prevent cracks caused by:
    • Vibration
    • Settlement of the building
    • Temperature fluctuations
    • Improper curing of plaster
    • Rapid construction activities
  • Improved Strength: The mesh reinforces the plaster, making it more resistant to damage and wear.
  • Earthquake Resistance: By creating a more stable plaster layer, it can potentially improve a building’s resistance to earthquakes.
Availability

Arpitha GI Plaster Mesh typically comes in rolls of various widths (common sizes include 100mm, 125mm, 150mm) and a standard length of 20 meters.

Two main types of plaster mesh to consider:
  1. Metal Mesh (Arpitha GI Plaster Mesh):
    • Made from galvanized iron (GI) with a zinc coating for rust resistance.
    • Offers high strength and rigidity, ideal for high-stress areas and heavy plaster applications.
    • More resistant to fire compared to fiberglass mesh.
    • May be slightly more expensive than fiberglass mesh.
  2. Fiberglass Mesh:
    • Made from woven glass fibers, often with an alkali-resistant coating.
    • Lightweight and flexible, easier to cut and conform to uneven surfaces.
    • Generally less expensive than metal mesh.
    • Not as strong as metal mesh, but suitable for most standard plastering applications.
